Winter War Museum

The Winter War Museum presents the events of the Winter War in Kuhmo through authentic artefacts, photographs, scale models and sound effects.

The exhibitions offer insight into the everyday lives of evacuated civilians as well as Finnish and Soviet soldiers. Opened in 1994, the museum covers topics including the evacuation, the fate of Kuhmo town centre, frontline and medical services, the battles fought in the area, and the post-war period.

Closed on public holidays.
Outside regular opening hours, the museum is open by appointment for groups of at least 12 people.

Accessibility

The ground floor of the Winter War Museum is accessible by wheelchair. The second floor can only be reached by stairs. One essential companion of a visitor with a visual or mobility impairment is admitted free of charge.
