Building Control

Building control is a municipal authority responsible for helping to ensure a safe, healthy and pleasant living environment and for ensuring that changes to the townscape strengthen Kuhmo’s distinctive character. Building control supervises the condition of the built environment and the maintenance of buildings in the public interest, promotes good building practices and guides construction activities in a sustainable manner.

Building control determines whether construction projects require a permit and processes the permits and notifications required for construction, demolition and work that alters the landscape.
