Environmental Protection and Supervision

The municipal environmental protection authority is responsible for supervising and promoting environmental protection within the municipality. The aim is to ensure a pleasant and healthy living environment for residents.

In Kuhmo, the municipal environmental protection authority is the Vitality Committee, which has delegated some of its decision-making powers to municipal officials.

Environmental supervision duties include, among other things, processing and supervising environmental permits and permits for the extraction of land materials, as well as processing notifications submitted under the Environmental Protection Act. The authority is also responsible for contributing to the monitoring of the state of the environment and participating in the handling of matters related to environmental protection.

The Kuhmo City Council has issued environmental protection regulations, and compliance with these regulations is supervised by the City of Kuhmo’s environmental protection authority.
