Childhood and Education

Tuupala Comprehensive School

The City of Kuhmo provides basic education for grades 1–9 at Tuupala Comprehensive School, located in the town centre. The school buildings are situated within the same spacious campus area. The school grounds include a versatile outdoor sports area with playing courts. A sports field, ice rink and swimming hall are located approximately one kilometre from the school and are used for physical education.

Tuupala Comprehensive School consists of two school buildings: the Wooden School for grades 1–6 and the Stone School for grades 7–9. In addition to mainstream education groups, the school provides education in small groups.

We provide high-quality education, individual support and diverse learning opportunities. Our school participates in the KiVa School anti-bullying programme and is committed to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

In addition to mainstream classes, the school provides special education classes, individualised small-group instruction (H classes), flexible basic education (JOPO), various clubs, and before- and after-school activities. We work closely with guardians and various professionals to support pupils’ well-being.

You can follow everyday life, celebrations and other current events at Tuupala Comprehensive School on the school’s Instagram account.
