Kuhmo Taitotehdas
A Collaborative Learning Environment
Kuhmo Taitotehdas brings vocational education beyond the walls of the classroom – to where students and working life come together.
Kuhmo Taitotehdas is a collaborative learning environment jointly operated by Kainuu Vocational College (KAO) and the City of Kuhmo. Students can complete full vocational qualifications or individual qualification units that Kainuu Vocational College is authorised to provide.
Target Groups
We offer vocational education and training for young people, career changers and those returning to Kuhmo.
The learning environment brings together students of different ages and from different fields of study. A strong sense of community develops through learning together, practical work and mutual support.
Students may be completing their first vocational qualification, changing careers, returning to Kuhmo or already in working life and undertaking further training.
How the Studies Are Organised
At the beginning of the studies, each student receives a Personal Competence Development Plan (HOKS). Where possible, Kuhmo Taitotehdas is agreed with the student’s instructor as one of their learning environments.
As a general principle, students spend 1–2 days per week at Taitotehdas completing theory-based studies related to their qualification and 3–4 days per week developing their vocational skills in the workplace.
