Vitality Committee

The Committee’s areas of responsibility include the planning and implementation of construction projects, maintenance of built assets and public areas, land use planning and management, surveying services, stormwater management, private road services, the operation of municipal utilities and the support functions required for these activities, as well as tourism, business services, Woodpolis, employment services, and, with regard to transport services, scheduled transport and accessibility.

The Committee’s responsibilities also include building guidance and supervision, environmental protection, civil defence and oil spill response, insofar as these duties have not been transferred to the rescue services under the regional rescue services cooperation agreement.

The Committee also acts as a municipal authority in matters falling within its jurisdiction.
