Help with Information Searches

You can search the collections of Kainuu’s Kainet libraries through the Kainet online library. Enter the title of a work, the author’s name or a subject in the search field. You can also change the search criteria. By selecting “All fields”, you can search using both the title of the book and the author’s surname.

If you would like to see which books by a particular author are available in Kainuu libraries, select “Author” as the search criterion. You can then enter the author’s name, for example “Waltari, Mika”, to see works by Mika Waltari in the Kainet library collections. When “Kainet Libraries” is shown in green in the availability information, the selected title is available in one or more Kainet libraries.

To reserve an item, first sign in to the Kainet Finna online library using your library card number and personal PIN code. Select the most convenient library as the pickup location. Reservations are held for one week after arrival. After this period, uncollected reservations are returned and a €3 fee is charged. If necessary, you can select another Kainet library as the pickup location.
