City Archives

The City of Kuhmo archives are located on the second floor of City Hall.

The City Archives preserve documents created in the course of the City’s activities that are to be retained for a long period or permanently. The local heritage archives contain private archival collections that have been donated to the City, such as archives of local associations in Kuhmo.

Public documents can be examined at the City Archives. Copies can be provided on site, by post or by email. Copies are subject to a fee.

We respond to information requests as soon as possible and no later than within the time limits laid down in the Act on the Openness of Government Activities.

For requests concerning confidential documents, we will verify the applicant’s right of access.

A form for document requests is available on the City of Kuhmo website. If you wish to visit the archives to examine documents, please arrange an appointment in advance by phone.

Document Requests

You can examine public documents held in the City Archives by making an appointment in advance.

You can also request copies for a fee. Please contact the archives if you would like to make an appointment to examine documents.

Document requests can be submitted electronically using strong authentication. The request is sent to the City’s registry office, which forwards it to the appropriate department for processing.

At its meeting on 14 October 2025 (§ 287), the City Board approved updated fees for documents provided by the City of Kuhmo. The new fees took effect on 1 December 2025.

Please check the applicable fee in advance. Any applicable fees can be paid at the City Hall information desk or electronically through the City’s online store.
