The appropriate handling of personal data strengthens the rights of data subjects and promotes transparency. In the services provided by the City of Kuhmo, personal data is processed lawfully and with due regard for the rights of data subjects.

The processing of personal data is governed by, among other legislation, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Finnish Data Protection Act supplementing the GDPR, the Act on the Openness of Government Activities, and various sector-specific laws governing the activities of public authorities. The legislation on which the processing is based also determines the rights of data subjects in relation to the processing of their personal data.
